Anway it is from last years pride parade in Oslo. I'm thinking about going to the Pride Parade this summer with a friend. I really should be a bit more "out and proud" as they say. Half the time I forget that I am in the minority, it might be because I am bisexual not lesbian? I dunno...

I know right, then they fucking turn around and tell me I am somehow not good enough because I don't act or dress gay*!

Why should I have to go around telling people about whom I am in essence wanting to or having sex with? That is between me and my partner/s and no one else. Only time I want to know someone's sexuality is if I want to have sex with them.

I really want to edit that to sound more politically correct, because as I mentioned I don't feel like I have a right to voice my opinion on these matters, I will just add the disclaimer: I feel this way, no one else have to feel the same way as me

lmao, yea, "You don't act or dress gay" makes no sense to me either. There's no one way a gay person dresses or acts, BECAUSE GAY PEOPLE AREN'T ALL THE SAME. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Jeez.

Don't worry, I get you. If people want to be open and talk freely about their sexuality that's perfectly fine and normal, but for it to not be something you mention to anyone other than a potential partner or close friends, that's also fine. People need to stop thinking that their way is the only way.

Yeah, do whatever you want to do for all I care. But don't judge me for how I decide to live my life.

I guess I feel guilty, because here in Norway I could be open without being especially scared about getting beaten or not getting jobs (by law they can't not hire me because of my sexuality) and we got gay politicians in our Christian Party, and Gay Priests and so on, so I guess on top of "not being gay enough" I don't experience the same prejudices as a lot of the world does*. But really, my life, my choice.

*Not saying gays never experience hate or crime and so on in Norway, just that our society as a whole is pretty gay friendly. Asexuality though isn't even mentioned in our official LGBT webpage...

Still, you live where you live and that isn't necessarily going to affect your feelings on the matter. Nor should you feel guilty imo, because...well, it's not fair when anyone is discriminated against, but to say that because you maybe don't experience the same discrimination because of your sexuality you have to act or live a certain way isn't right.

But why. You cant say you want equality and acceptance and then turn around and treating "one of your own" as less worth because they don't fit into a stereotype.

You should come! It is awesome here! Apparently we are the most equal country on earth with the best protected freedom of speech*!

I guess, I feel that way in a lot of discussions online though. Feminism, rape and LGBT stuff is discussions I tend to stay away from because I live in a completely different world than a lot of people discussing it. And I don't want to come across as offending or that I don't get it or something (which I don't really, I understand it, but I don't experience the same things as it seems like a big part of the world does)

That's pretty understandable I think. It's perfectly fine if you don't want to talk about certain things, no matter your reason. Especially if you feel you don't have anything to add to the conversation or don't fully understand it. I tend to stay away from a lot of these topics too because what I want to say usually already has been said. (Also, watching the wank that comes from those discussions isn't my idea of fun either. And there IS wank, always.)

At times I have a lot to add, I am just scared that my arguments will be taken the wrong way as I don't have the same experience as it seems like a lot of the commenter seem to have. (I don't enjoy wank either, except at times, like the ShitStream thing on F!S a while ago, that was awesome! I do enjoy discussing things and getting a different perspective though*)

*I fear you guys are getting tired of me hijacking random threads on F!S with; "In Norway stuff is like this" or "Wait? What? Could you explain that to me" followed by "LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT NORWAY!". But I am learning stuff, and I do actually love the fact that you guys take time out of your lives to explain things to a random internet user who at times basically insults your culture....

lmao, I don't think I've ever seen you insulting anyone's culture! And hey, if you don't understand something the only way to learn is to ask. If you have an opinion and you want to share it you should! People DO have different experiences; that's part of life! As long as you're polite and willing to listen/possibly learn people on fs can be pretty cool.

Also, I knew very little about Norway before you! ...Okay, I still know little about Norway, but you've told me things about it that I'm not sure I would've learned otherwise. That's pretty neat, imo. (That people teach you things back is only fair, I think. :p)

I don't really. I might think to myself at times that something is idiotic, but instead of insulting it I ask so I can get a better understanding of it.

I don't often have bad experiences on F!S, I dunno why though? I love the forum, it is the only place online I feel comfortable posting...

I am converting F!S users to look at the world through Norwegian eyes one at the time! Just you wait we will take over the world *mohahah*

But yeah, I have learnt a lot of stuff about (mostly) American and British culture on f!s. It was fun when I got loads of different opinions on wearing shoes indoors though. I might still think it is "unclean" to have outdoor shoes on indoors, but at least now I understand why some people do...

I didn't follow the shoe secret closely, but I know that some people do wear shoes inside. My father does that (he's constantly going in and out though, so I think it might partially be to save time); as soon as I get in the house I put socks or house-shoes on. *shrugs* Different strokes and all that.

F!S is my favourite place online! (That is awesome! We might be people sitting in front of different screens in different countries, but we are still real breathing people)

I followed it, because I kinda started it (without meaning to for once)... In Norway at least no one goes inside with shoes, except in "extreme" situations, like when moving or building or possibly if you are carrying a lot of things inside...
